Wow, you have a pretty interesting life! These are great stories. (I laughed a lot) It's really awesome that you go on all these book tours and are able to connect with your readers. Not all authors do this, and it is something really special. You are a pretty cool dude Soman. I look forward to meeting you on your Coven book tour. (It's seriously all I can think about because I am sooooooo excited!) :)

I won't be seeing you on your tour for Coven, but I did see you at my elementary school for one of your SGE tours (believe me, the passage of that much time freaks me out too)! I remember when I was really young my mom had one of the SGE books at home and the cover was so pretty that I wanted to read it. I think she made me wait until I was a little older, but that time came along with your tour. I don't remember much about it, but I think it was really cool, and I know my mom (who was the assistant librarian) thought you were amazing as well!

My Mom is an elementary school teacher (she teaches grade 6) and a massive bookworm. So every time an author comes to her school she talks about it a lot. There's a Canadian author named Kevin Sylvester that my Mom loves. I don't remember why (I think my mom had read the book to her class and told me about it, and when I heard he was going to her school I must have asked for her to get me a copy) but when he was on his tour for his book Miners 2 My mom got me a signed copy of Miners (the first in the trilogy). Then on his tour for Miners 3 he went to my Mom's school again. I asked her to get me a copy of books 2 and 3 so I could have the full collection of signed books. By the time she got to him, he was out of copies of Miners 2, so he signed Miners 3 and also asked my mom for our address. He made sure to mail me a personally signed copy of Miners 2. I remember thinking about how cool it was that an author was taking the time to send me a personally signed copy of his book because he couldn't leave me with a gap in the series.

This is going to sound bad... but I haven't actually read any of those books... YET! I do plan on reading it but, honestly, I don't read nearly as often as I should or as I want to. It's not always the thing I think to do when I have spare time (I hate how often I go on youtube short and Instagram reels... I refuse to get tik tok). I love this story and I do plan on reading the books, just maybe when I'm not actively swamped with university assignments. I can say that even though I haven't read the books, I love them. I love the fact that I have all 3 of them signed to me and that they come with this special story.

You know, I used to want to write. You probably hear that a lot. But I did. I used to want to be a social worker and then write in my spare time. Then life happened. If I could do it though, I'd write about random people and their stories. Which is weird because I really don't care for a lot of people; just people in general. But over the years, and suffering things myself amongst the million other things, I've come to know that everyone has their own battles. Yes- I know- it's something you hear often but no one ever stops to just listen to their stories. How they got where they are. Why they are the way they are. The challenges THEY had to go through or the things that were traumatic to THEM. Then I was told thank you one day. Just for listening to an old man I followed out of the grocery store once. He had come in the store singing some foreign song that I still don't know to this day. By the time he checked out he was in tears. I followed him out of the store like some creeper and asked him if he was okay. He told me about how that was his and late wife's song and he hadn't heard it for awhile but it came on the radio that morning. That started a friendship I never knew I needed. He was a very old man. And died three years later. He wanted to be with her. He wanted to die but having someone to talk to about her made him realize that there was a little joy left in this world. Anyway, that went into something wayyyyyy longer than I meant. Don't stop writing. Ever. I often do the same thing with pictures. Aunt Debbie takes so many and I take some and I hear people say how many we take and I think they're complaining but then I get a simple thank you from someone and it reminds me why I take them. There will always always be someone who needs books. Who needs your books. And if you don't believe me, I will promise you that I will make my children always hold an actual book to read it rather than a tablet or phone. And I'll have them introduce your books to their kids one day.

Dear Soman since you travel a lot did you ever had a worst experience with TSA just an airline in general or people sitting next to you? I know I did when I went to Rome this year first my flight got canceled and then the airline told my MA and me they rebook us for a flight that leaves in 30 mins you aren't allowed through TSA in an hour. They're where delays getting to Rome and back which was stressful because it was for a study abroad trip. Also stress in Rome because my roommate who I didn't choose left me alone in a foreign country when we where supposed to stay in pairs.

Some of these stories are unbelievable oh my god (I’m still reeling over the subway one that’s got to be classified as some kind of omen). I wish you could come to my school but that’s a high school in Denmark and aside from the distance I’m not sure exactly how an SGE/coven presentation would be received…💀 Absolutely begging for you to do an international tour again (is that in the cards? Maybe for Young World?) because I’ve been dying to meet you since I was six years old and started reading SGE…

Can’t wait to hear the stories about what happens this time around!

If you do go to Denmark, could you please come to Germany as well? Specifically Berlin? Cuz I'm from Berlin and would love to meet you! I've been a fan of SGE for a long time as well and have read all the books.

i met you for the first time at ya'll fest in charleston a few years ago... i was so nervous i didn't sleep for like, 2 (okay, three or four) months ahead of time. (sadly, not exaggerating.)

you were super nice, of course, even if your signing line was still masked up, you made us all feel human and welcome, even in the glow of your superauthorstardom. :)

know it comes with LOTS of experience, obviously.

so here's to next time, and me being a lot less shaky and a lot more well-rested the next time we meet...! :)

(unfortunately, none of your COVEN stops are anywhere near mebut i'll catch ya and say "HI" again someday, i hope!!)

cheers to readers of ALL sorts and ages.

grateful for your work and the phenomenal cosmic powers that intervene so you don't quit. :)

I remember you telling me about a very sleepy driver who picked you up after your evening book signing event in Dallas and drove you that night to Houston so you could be on time for a full day of school visits the next morning. You made him pull over a few times to get some coffee as he was about to fall asleep at the wheel. You barely had a couple hours of sleep and still got in an early workout before I picked you up. I was mortified for you. You were at the mercy of this driver. But trooper and professional that you are,the show must go on….. You mesmerized those audiences with your charm. Impressive my friend!

I'm in college right now and started reading SGE when it first came out so I was 9/10 going into 5th grade. Now I'm 20 and have seen a few authors in my English classes and creative writing classes/events on campus. I'm hoping to meet with the chair of my department to see if we would have the budget to have you come to us on the YOUNG WORLD tour. It would mean the world to me. So sad your tour for coven is so center US as I live in Maine and am a broke college kid. :(

I don't know if this was answered somewhere but did you ever spoke about how you made the decision on what parts of arthurain legends you would used in your books? What do you think of all the iterations of the Autherian legends any favorites
